Virginia Ryan practiced law for over six years before taking a 16 year career break. In 2012, I enrolled in the New Directions Program at Pace University, a program for lawyers returning to practice following a professional break. An externship was part of the New Directions Program and I was most fortunate to be selected to do mine at the Office of the General Counsel at my alma mater, Barnard College. Since graduating from New Directions, I have worked at Fordham University's Office of Legal Counsel and at Columbia University in a short term administrative position. Since 2014, I have been very happily working at Barnard College as an Assistant General Counsel, fully engaged in my practice supporting the interests of my beloved Barnard.
