Bio


John W. Rose (MBA '73) is an investor and strategist who specializes in bank and finance investments. He recently retired as a founding principal of CapGen Capital Advisors, a New York City-based private equity fund which invested in distressed banks across the country. Prior to CapGen, Mr. Rose led investors in 13 turnaround banking and finance investments. He has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Bay View Bancorp in the Silicon Valley of California; Executive Vice President in charge of Community Banks at F.N.B. Corporation, a Pittsburgh-based bank holding company; and Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at ABN North America/ LaSalle National Bank in Chicago. Over his career, Mr. Rose has served on the Board of Directors of 25 banks and bank holding companies, 6 finance companies and 3 industrial companies. He has also been an advisor to 3 private equity funds.  John has a Bachelor of Arts from Case Western Reserve University and a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University.
