Like the Internet, Artificial Intelligence has dramatically changed our lives and will continue to do so. The biggest change will result from our use of AI to analyze the data we generate to enhance our knowledge, discover solutions and even predict the future.

Debra Bass, Global CMO & President, US Nuvo Group
Debra is a growth-oriented business leader and brand builder with a broad base of experience in building beloved/iconic brands at some of the world’s most admired companies in the fast-moving consumer goods and healthcare industries. She recently made a move to a startup to leverage her collective industry experience and personal passion to build something meaningful for the next generation of parents and babies. Debra is currently Global CMO and President of the US at Nuvo Group, an emerging leader in maternal-fetal connected health. She leads the global development of the Nuvo Corporate Brand and the US market introduction of the company’s innovative technology platform to advance the delivery of maternal-fetal care. Before joining the Nuvo Group, Debra was President, Global Marketing Services at Johnson & Johnson (J&J) Consumer Companies, where she led a team of 200+ and accelerated profitable growth behind J&J’s $14B portfolio of global and regional brands. Her key focus was fusing the classical discipline with personalized marketing, advanced analytics and external “power partnerships” to deliver hyper-relevant brand experiences. Prior to this role, Debra was Global President of the $28+ Global Baby Care Franchise. She was responsible for delivering the long-term growth strategy of the Baby Care Needs State, building a pipeline of innovation and strengthening brand equities behind a portfolio of brands. Debra, an industry speaker, has spoken at Cannes Lion’s Health, Modern Marketing Summit, and New York Advertising Week. She was recently recognized with the “Top 100 Women in Brand Marketing” Award by Brand Innovators. She is actively committed to advancing women’s leadership. While at J&J, she served on the Global Women’s Leadership Initiative Steering Committee and was an Executive Director of the #SeeHer advertising industry initiative. She also serves o the P&G Alumni Women’s Forum Steering Committee. Recently, Debra was recognized with a Tri-State diversity “Most Powerful and Influential Women” award for her commitment to women’s leadership. Debra has a BA in public policy from Duke University and an MBA in, General Management from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.

Michael Iacona - Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, Fusemachines
Michael Iacona is the Chief Strategy & Growth Officer at Fusemachines, an AI Solutions company headquartered in New York City. In this role, Michael helps companies apply AI to business use cases that increase productivity and enable revenue growth opportunities. With over 25 years of experience in business and technology, Michael has held various CxO positions in corporate environments ranging from startups to large multinational companies such as Loews Corporation, AT&T, Thomson Reuters and TMP/Monster Worldwide. He also a two-time startup founder and currently acts as a mentor in Columbia University's Executive Master of Science in Technology Management program, where he shares his industry experience in technology, software product development, marketing, information services, telecommunications, and financial services with graduate students. Mr. Iacona holds a B.S. from Hofstra University, M.S. from Pace University, and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

Deepak Mittal – CEO, NextGen Invent Corporation
Deepak Mittal is an accomplished serial entrepreneur and investor with a proven track record in business / IT strategy and making organizations AI enabled. Currently, Deepak holds the CEO position of NextGen Invent Corporation (NGI), a leading global professional services company that specializes in data science, technology, operations, and data management services and has always been at the forefront in providing solutions for a wide range of industries using disruptive technologies such as Big Data Analytics, Blockchain, IOT, Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality. Based on innovative work done for data analytics, Deepak was awarded “Entrepreneur of the Month” by Silicon Review magazine. During his career, Deepak has served as a member of the Board of Directors of many companies including Innovative Scheduling and Launch Right Now. In this capacity, Deepak was responsible for evaluating new product ideas, and devising an appropriate product strategy and structure in strategic partnerships with companies such as IBM, and Oliver Wyman. He has managed and launched various products in Healthcare, Insurance and finance areas for such noted companies as JP Morgan Chase, Beverly Healthcare, and Fidelity Investments. Deepak has an MBA from Columbia Business School, an M.S. in Industrial & Management Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in Computer Science from Bundelkhand Engineering College.

Matei Zatreanu, Founder, System2
Matei founded System2 to augment investment research with data and technology. Clients leverage the System2 team as an on-demand task force with expertise in data science, sourcing, engineering, and artificial intelligence to help them improve model estimates. He also hosts Augvest, a community of investors who meet regularly to discuss trends in data-driven investing. He previously spent eight years at King Street Capital, where he started the data science initiative. Matei has an MA in math from Columbia University and BAs in psychology, math, government, and economics from Cornell University.

(Moderator) Jeremy Kagan, Managing Director, Lang Center for Entrepreneurship at CBS
Jeremy is the Managing Director of the Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center at Columbia Business School, where he oversees the entrepreneurial curriculum and programming, the multi-million dollar Lang Investment Fund, and the Columbia Startup Lab. Jeremy previously founded, a SaaS marketing technology company that helped small businesses manage search marketing (SEM) and digital advertising, with peer benchmarking, a simple platform for deploying and managing campaigns, and features to save them time and money. and get more sales and leads. Jeremy is also an advisor and consultant, professor, and corporate trainer in digital marketing, strategy, and innovation. He currently works as a mentor with numerous accelerators, such as ER Accelerator, Innovation Norway, the German Accelerator, Dreamit, XRC Labs. He also advises and consults with startups directly. Jeremy’s previous career includes executive positions at Sony Music Entertainment in the Global Digital Business in advertising as Vice President/Director, Strategy and Customer Insights, at Publicis Modem, and as a strategy consultant at IBM and Dean & Company. For over a decade, Jeremy has been a Professor at Columbia Business School, Marketing Dept. for MBA, EMBA and Executive Education programs, teaching coursework in the areas of Digital Marketing, Strategy and Innovation, and Entrepreneurship. His new textbook "Digital Marketing: Strategy & Tactics" was published earlier this year by the Wessex Press.

This panel has been organized by the CBSAC/NY AI Committee, Brad Jobling and Bonnie Halpern, in collaboration with Jeremy Kagan of the Eugene M. Lang Center for Entrepreneurship at the Columbia Business School.
