A Syrian Summerfest

Join us for a special dinner celebrating the rich culinary heritage of Syria

and the resilience of its refugees settled here in New York!

Limited to 30 participants!

Tanabel, a catering and events company that works with refugee women from across the Middle East, will open its doors to us on Friday, June 8th for a feast featuring the cooking of Rana from Der Ezzor, Syria. Rana arrived in New York with her husband and children 6 years ago and makes her home in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. She's shared her traditions with Tanabel and its guests since last fall, including a very special Syrian Christmas dinner drawn from her family recipes.

Tanabel was founded last year by Hannah Goldberg (CC '01), a classically trained chef who believes in the power of food to connect us to memory and family, to overcome cultural barriers and to unite us in our shared appreciation of the delicious. She works with a team of talented refugee women, preparing and preserving their traditional recipes. The authentic and generous meals they make allow their cooks to share a taste of home with their new community and provide them with meaningful and empowering employment as they settle into new lives in the United States. Tanabel hosts pop-up dinners, caters events, and teaches cooking classes.
