A special evening with Jack Mitchell, Chairman of Mitchell Stores

 

"Expanding a Family Business by Focusing on Your Customer"



Mitchell Stores is a family-owned business consisting of several high-end men’s and women’s specialty stores in the Northeast and West Coast: Mitchells and Richards in Connecticut, Marsh’s on Long Island, and Wilkes Bashford in California (for more info click here). The stores are nationally recognized for their quality merchandise and exceptional personal service.

Jack Mitchell serves as Chairman of this three-generation family business and is an Executive in Residence of Columbia Business School (and is an active member of the School’s Family Business Program). Mr. Mitchell, along with family members Scott and Lyle,  will speak to Columbia alums and friends on Wednesday, June 6 at Richards store in Greenwich. They will discuss how Mitchell’s customer-centric model has contributed to the businesses’ success, as well as the opportunities and challenges of operating a family business (other Mitchell family members likely to attend).

Mr. Mitchell has written several books on sales and management, including Hug your Customer, which was endorsed by Warren Buffet (and was a Wall Street Journal best-seller). He is also an enthusiastic public speaker and has appeared on several TV and Radio shows. Mitchell is frequently quoted in national magazines as a customer service and managerial leadership expert. Moreover he was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the “26 Most Fascinating Entrepreneurs.”
