Astor Court at the St. Regis Hotel is named for its founder, Colonel John Jacob Astor IV, who built the beautiful Beaux Arts hotel in 1904. The St. Regis opened as the Versailles of hostelries in New York City and is one of the most important elements in the architectural fabric of this section of Fifth Avenue, contributing greatly to its sophisticated character.
