USING THE INTERNET TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS

Join the Columbia Business School Alumni Club of New York and guests as the Connecticut/Westchester County Committee hosts a panel discussion on “Using the Internet to Grow Your Business” on Tuesday, November 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains, NY. Small business owners and entrepreneurs will discuss ways to have a high impact using the internet, even with limited funds. The objective is to give them a better understanding of Internet-based tools that can attract and engage sales prospects. Topics to be covered include developing content, enhancing your credibility and increasing your visibility; getting your content distributed, finding blogs for your market, using social media sites such as Linked-In, FaceBook and Twitter, making your content search-friendly; and, running the marketing program, developing a strategy, goals, message, target audience, and outsourcing options. The event will include time for networking. Panelists: Deirdre Silberstein runs Silberstein & Associates LLC, www.silbersteinassociates.com a consulting firm that works with companies, professional services firms, and entrepreneurs, who want to grow their businesses by communicating and publishing in ways that demonstrate, educate, and feature their capabilities, knowledge, and areas of specialization. Deirdre has more than 30 years of experience in the publishing industry and corporate communications. In addition to her Columbia MBA, she has a BA in History from Stanford University. Teri Mendelsohn is President of Mendelsohn Consulting, Inc., www.mendelsohnconsulting.net a New York-based practice which specializes in the creation, implementation and launch of digital information products and their enhancements. Previously, she was Director of Clinical Markets at Ovid Technologies, a Wolters Kluwer nv company and leading provider of biomedical full-text and citational databases. Also at Ovid, she was Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development. Before that, Ms. Mendelsohn was an Associate in the media practice of the global strategic consulting firm Mitchell Madison Group. At MIT Press, she was Coordinating Editor, Cognitive Science before becoming Assistant Acquisitions Editor, Philosophy. Teri received her MBA from Columbia Business School and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Jason DeLuca is the Managing Director of the Digital Media department for Allscope Digital Media, www.allscope.com . He provides thought-leadership in all things related to online and digital marketing. Jason manages the digital group across all clients and categories of business. After graduating from Columbia University, Jason became one of the first employees in the Interactive Division at BBDO NY. Jason has been a successful entrepreneur, having launched PopWall.com, a college oriented e-commerce site. He further developed his online media skills as a Senior Account Manager at Mass Transit Interactive. Jason co-founded Morpheus Media, and subsequently Argonaut Media. Jason brought in new clients such as Neiman Marcus and developed an in-house division to manage performance marketing campaigns for companies such as Chase, DirecTV and The New York Times.
