A Message From Your Presidents
A Message from Your Presidents Welcome to the 2009/2010 program year of the Columbia Business School Alumni Club of New York (CBSAC/NY). We recount here our accomplishments from the previous program year and also articulate our goals for the current one. Through the efforts of our talented volunteers we met and exceeded many of our stated goals during the 2008/2009 program year. - Membership continues to grow and attendance at our events has been at record levels.
- Relations with the business school are closer than ever. We continue to coordinate and integrate our efforts to serve alumni.
- Club management decisions are more transparent and our policies and procedures are clearer and simpler to follow.
- We continue to implement best practices in not-for-profit corporate governance and added standing board committees to improve financial transparency, corporate governance and leadership succession.
- Our surplus is strong and allows us to invest in our continued development.
During the current 2009/2010 program year we plan to build upon our past successes in order to position ourselves for strong future growth. Among our key initiatives are: - Work closely with the business school on outreach to current students so as to plant the seeds of active participation in the CBSAC/NY and their involvement in the alumni network.
- Encourage recent graduates who remain in the New York City Metropolitan Area to become committed CBSAC/NY members and volunteers.
- Upgrade our club’s infrastructure to simplify management and administrative functions, to streamline event planning and implementation, and to make it easier for our volunteers to focus their time and energies on doing what they do best – managing the club, running their committees, and producing successful programs.
- Respond to the current business landscape by adding new and more relevant committees and events to better serve the career development and professional needs of our members and volunteers.
We look forward to seeing you at upcoming events, and welcome you to attend any of our recurring monthly management meetings. Don’t forget to renew your membership! Join us along with the many other active alumni in order to strengthen the CBSAC/NY, the alumni network and the value of the Columbia MBA.
